Kristin Thomas, President, Executive Board Member
Kristin moved to the Charlotte area in 1999 and she and her husband, bought their first home in Tega Cay in 2002. Her over 20 year career at Microsoft took them to the UK from 2005-2013 and when they returned to the US couldn’t wait to settle back into Tega Cay. She is a Support Engineering Manager at Microsoft and is known for getting things done. She is very involved in the local Democratic Party, loves to travel, entertain, cook, and read.
Amber Margies, Vice President, Executive Board Member, Treasurer
Amber moved to Fort Mill in 2008 from NY. She attended Winthrop University and graduated in 2012 with a double major in History and Philosophy/Religion. She met her husband in 2010 and hasn’t looked back!
She and her husband, Dan, own Danny’s Pizza and Pasta in Tega Cay and have made it their mission to use their position in the community to give back as much as they can.
Being part of FMiF is an immense privilege and she looks forward to doing good in her community for years to come.
Meg Drew, Executive Board Member
Meg Drew has been a resident of Fort Mill since 2015. Meg has a passion for connecting authentically with people and helping them advocate for themselves. As a community health Nurse Practitioner, she often encounters people with needs greater than she has the power to help. With her position as a FMIF board member and community lead, she can put her passion for helping people into action in our local community.
Duane Thomas, Executive Board Member, Chief Digital Information Officer
Duane is passionate about technology and how it can improve the lives of people and communities. Duane has worked at Microsoft for 23 years and is currently a Support Engineering Manager. He loves wood working, video gaming, travel, cooking, and finding new ways to solve problems.
Deb Alwi – Secretary
Deb moved to Fort Mill in 2008 and fell in love with the town and its residents. Despite relocating to SWFL for work in 2017, her heart continues to live in Fort Mill where her children still reside. Deb is an Officer Engineer with a major Civil Engineering firm and has been with them since 1998. She has served on several non-profit boards in the past and as well as volunteering in SWFL, she continues to show her love of her Fort Mill Community by serving Fort Mill is Family as secretary.
Jen Callahan, Social Media Manager
Jen has always enjoyed helping others and bringing people together. As a project manager for global human resource communications at Bank of America, she has nearly 20 years experience in corporate communications and digital marketing. She is a recent transplant to Fort Mill via Long Island, NY, and she enjoys going to the beach, discovering southern BBQ and getting to know her new home town.
Maren Coffman, Volunteer Coordinator
Maren has been a Professor at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte in the School of Nursing for 17 years. She has dedicated her career to supporting disadvantaged communities and mentoring students. She has lived in Fort Mill and Tega Cay since 2006. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, gardening, traveling, reading, and hanging out in the water in the summertime.
